Leo Kitajima (Violinist)
Leo began playing the violin at age 7 and has completed his BM degree
at
the University of Southern California. During his undergraduate
studies,
he had many opportunities to explore other genres by playing in jazz,
Latin, and hip hop ensembles. Some of these ensembles include the Henri
Mancini Orchestra, Afro-Latin American Jazz Ensemble, and the Skeleton
Key Orchestra. By using creative approaches to play the violin, Leo
wishes to expand the role of the instrument beyond its traditional
image. He currently teaches the violin at the Pasadena Conservatory of
Music and several public schools throughout the Pasadena Unified School
District, specializing in the Suzuki Violin Method.
